Faridabad Police come up with “Accident-Free Faridabad" campaign for road safety, awareness

New Delhi, August 17

To bolster road safety awareness, the Faridabad Police have introduced “Accident-Free Faridabad" campaign. 

The officials stated that the drive will emphasize on helmet usage addressing violations. The police will not only issue challans but also distribute helmets free of cost.

The police have also established road safety clubs that encourage participation from stakeholders across institutions in Faridabad and Ballabgarh Block, to engage students and citizens. 

In an effort to amplify the initiative, police are employing the use of short movies, slogans, street plays, marathons, nike rallies, and poster contests that focus on promoting traffic awareness, officials added. 

12 key locations have been identified as “black spots” that demand particular attention due to their accident-prone nature- Elson Chowk, Kaily Flyover, JCB Chowk, Sikri Road towards Faridabad NH, Badkal Flyover, and Bata Chowk, among others, police further stated. 

In terms of enforcement, the Faridabad Police have actively issued 279,581 challans in the ongoing year of 2023, in addition to 282,017 challans issued in the preceding year of 2022, resulting in the collection of Rs 7,93,53,109 in revenue.

The offenses for which challans have been issued encompass a wide range of violations, including wrong-side driving, failure to wear seat belts, unauthorized use of vehicles such as Eeco vans and tractor trolleys, driving under the influence, improper parking, excessive speeding, underage driving, smoking while driving, and improper entry, among others.
