Four government officials in Rajkot game zone fire, Police Commissioner transferred out

The Gujarat government shunted out Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava and brought senior IPS officer, Brajesh Kumar Jha as the new CP of Rajkot

New Delhi, May 31

The Gujarat police in Rajkot arrested four government officials including a town planning officer (TPO) in connection with the devastating fire at TRP game zone in the city that claimed 27 lives last week.

The accused have been identified as TPO M D Sagathia, assistant TPOs Mukesh Makwana and Gautam Joshi, and former station officer of Kalavad Road fire station Rohit Vigora. 

At least nine persons have been arrested in the case so far. The government has already suspended Joshi and Vigora.

The Gujarat government also shunted out the Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava and brought senior IPS officer, Brajesh Kumar Jha as the new CP of Rajkot. Jha is an IPS officer of the 1999 batch. The government also replaced the city DCPs. Vidhi Chowdhary who was additional CP Traffic and Crime has been also transferred and kept on waiting for a post while Mahendra Bagria has replaced her. Bhargava has been kept on waiting for a post.
