New Delhi, March 1

The National Investigation Agency arrested the leader of a group, which allegedly has Maoist links, in connection with a terror funding case.

The NIA stated that Raghu Midiyami is the leader of the Moolwasi Bachao Manch (MBM), which was banned last year by the Chhattisgarh government under the Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act, 2005.

A case of alleged terror funding was first registered by the Chhattisgarh Police in November 2023, after which they arrested and chargesheeted two people, accusing them of being overground workers (OGWs). Last year, this case was among the more than two dozen Maoist-linked cases that the NIA took over from the state police.

The NIA statedthat the outfit has been engaged in collection, storage and disbursal of funds for CPI (Maoist), for furthering their anti-India agenda. The investigations revealed that Raghu Midiyami was the nodal person for the distribution of the funds at the local level for staging and sustaining CPI (Maoist)-led protests.
