The NIA filed supplementary chargesheet in Special NIA Court in Ranchi against 34 VPI (Maoist) terrorists in killing if four police personnel in Jharkhand.
The accused were identified as Baijnath Ganjhu, Sunil Ganjhu, Rajesh Ganjhu, Sanjay Ganjhu, Naresh Ganjhu, Faguna Ganjhu, Ramjit Nageshiya, Mrityunjay Kumar Singh, Anal Da, Saurabh Da, Bimal Yadav, Naveen Yadav, Ravindra Ganjhu, Budheshwar Oraon, Chhotu Kherwar, Aman Ganjhu, Niraj Singh Kherwar, Mrityunjay Bhuiyan, Kajesh Ganjhu, Surajnath Kherwar, Manish Yadav, Santu Bhuiyan, Nagendra Oraon, Ranthu Oraon, Rajesh Oraon, Bishun Dayal Nageshia, Anil Turi, Lajim Ansari, Shital Mochi, Kundan Kherwar, Jitendra Nageshia, Pradeep Singh Kherwar, National Bhokta, all residents of Jharkhand and Bihar under Sections 120B, 147, 148, 149, 302, 307, 353, 395, 396, 427, 121, 121A, 122 of Indian Penal Code, Sections 10, 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 38, 39 & 40 of Unlawful Activities ( Prevention) Act, 1967, Sections 25 (1-B)a, 26, 27 & 35 of the Arms Act 1959.
The NIA stated that the case pertains to deadly attack on the police patrolling party by the armed terrorists of CPI (Maoist) in November 2019 at Lukuiya More in District Latehar of Jharkhand, in which four police personnel were killed and their arms and ammunition were looted. The case was registered at Chandwa police station in Latehar District. The Jharkhand police after investigation had filed charge-sheet against six accused. The NIA re-registered the case in June 2020 and took over the investigation.
The NIA investigation revealed that Anal Da Central Committee Member and Secretary of Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee of CPI (Maoist), in collusion with other senior Maoist leaders, had conspired and planned the attack on the police patrolling party at Lukuiya More.
The officials added that the recce for carrying out the attack at the targeted place was conducted for a week and final planning for execution was undertaken at Bearjangha forest. Top leaders of CPI(I) Maoists had planned the minutest details and had constituted three teams to carry out the attack in a meticulous manner.
The NIA investigation has also established that the plan was executed under the leadership of Ravindra Ganjhu, Regional Committee Member of CPI (Maoist), who had also enlisted the help of over ground workers and sympathizers of CPI (Maoist). The attack was carried out in order to loot the arms and ammunition and further strengthen their organization and demoralize the security forces operating in that area .
During investigation, NIA was successful in unearthing immovable properties worth Rs 50 lakhs of Ravindra Ganjhu in Latehar and Ranchi districts and the same were attached under sec 25 of UA(P) Act.
The investigation leading to arrest of local contractor, Mrityunjay Kumar Singh exposed the unholy nexus between the CPI (Maoist) and unscrupulous contractors who are aiding and abetting activities of such banned terrorist organizations in naxal affected areas.
The NIA is further investigating the case.
