NIA files chargesheet in the killing of five police personnel by CPI(Maoists) in Jharkhand

The NIA filed second supplementary charge-sheet in the Ranchi court against 18 accused persons namely Sunil Tudu,  Budhram Mardi alias Budhuram Mardi,  Shriram Manjhi, Naresh Loha, Alamgir Ansari, Lakhan Sardar,  Joshep Purty,  Annem Hassa Purti, Tabarak Ansari, Mangal Topno, Soyna Singh Sardar, Jitrai Munda , Boyda Pahan, Rakesh Munda, Naina alias Birsha Birohar, Maharaj Pramanik, Amit Munda, Anal Da all from Jharkhand under sections 120B, 147, 148, 149, 302, 353, 396, 435, 121, 121A, 122 of Indian Penal Code, Sections 16, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39 and 40 of The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, Section 25(1B), 27 of the Arms Act and Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908.

The NIA stated that the case pertains to deadly attack on the police patrolling party by the cadres of CPI (Maoist), at around in June 2019 at Kukru Haat in Saraikela-Kharswan of Jharkhand, in which five police personnel were killed and their arms and ammunition were looted. 

Jharkhand police had filed charge-sheet against 11 accused. The NIA had re-registered the case in December 2020 and took over the investigation. 

The NIA officials stated that the investigation has revealed that Anal Da  Central Committee Member and Secretary of Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee CPI (Maoist), in collusion with other leaders of CPI(Maoist), had conspired and planned the attack on the Police Patrolling Party at Kukru-Haat Bazaar. The recce of the place of incident was carried for around a month and final planning for execution was done at Arhanja forest on June 13, 2019. The Maoists had planned minute details and had carried out extensive rehearsals for the attack.    

The NIA further said that the investigation has also established that the plan was executed under the leadership of Maharaj Pramanik, Zonal Commander of Bundu Chandil Sub Zone, who had also enlisted the help of over ground workers and sympathisers of CPI(Maoist). The attack was carried out in order to loot the arms and ammunition, further strengthen their organization and also as a retaliation for the killing of one of their cadres namely Pradeep Swasi, by the security forces in that area.

The NIA is further investigating the case.
