Toddler playing outside his home dies in a car accident in Outer Delhi

Toddler identified as Yash came under the car that was being driven by a 15-year-old boy who was learning driving

New Delhi, February 24

In an unfortunate incident, a 1.5-year-old boy, playing outside his house, died after being run over by a car allegedly driven by a minor in the Alipur area of Outer North Delhi.

The police said that the driver of the car was a 15-year-old boy, who was learning driving from his elder brother.

The accident took place at Balmiki Basti area. The police reached the spot and found the car at the spot. When the police reached, the injured toddler as already rushed to the hospital. 

In the hospital, doctors declared the injured boy dead. The toddler’s body has been preserved in BJRM Hospital, Jahangirpuri, and the place of the accident was inspected by the crime team.

The police have booked the minor under section 281, 106(1) of BNS and 3/181 and 5/181 MV Act.

In another incident, an elderly priest was trapped after a fire broke out at a temple in Rohini’s Prem Nagar area. 

The deceased priest was identified as Banwari Lal Sharma (65), lived at the temple. The incident took place in midnight hours. The police and two fire engines rushed to the spot and they controlled the fire in an hour.

The police informed that Sharma, who was trapped inside the premises, was found lying unconscious. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The police found out that a heater was functional inside his room at the time of fire.
