Two held in Shahdara for allegedly cheating citizens with fake Remdesivir injections

New Delhi, May 1

The Delhi Police Shahdara District arrested two for allegedly selling fake Remdesivir injections in the city.

The police identified the accused as Ansuman Kumar (41) from Rohini and Kartik Niwas (24) from Tilak Nagar. 

DCP Shahdara, R. Sathiyasundaram stated that the accused were buying fake Remdesivir injections from one in Noida through another middleman. They were selling one vial for Rs. 35000 in Delhi thereby cheating the citizens. 

The police said, an information was received that a person namely Anshuman who is selling fake Remdisivir injections at an exhorbitant price would come near Cross River Mall in his Honda City car HR 26 AS 2163 to sale the same to someone.

The police formed a team to arrest the accused. The police started a traffic checking was started near Cross River Mall. The car with the same description was signalled to stop. The duo deboarded from the car having bags in their hands and tried to flee however got apprehended them. 

The police seized 17 Remdisvir vials from them. One bag in the hand Kartik was found to be containing seven Remdisever injections and polythene in the hand of Ansuman was found to be containing 10 Remdisever injection

The police registered a case under sections  420, 188, 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 3 Epidemic Act and 3/7 Essential Commodity Act. 

The officials stated that during interrogation accused persons revealed that they knew these are the fake products and they procured these fake injections from one Akarshan of Noida through one Anil from Laxmi Nagar at low price from Noida and  sell it in Delhi at an exorbitant price of Rs 35,000  to get quick and easy money. They further revealed that they have previously cheated many by selling this fake drug at Paschim Vihar, West district and Nirankari Bhawan area and Rohini District.
