Ward boy attempts to rape a Covid + woman in Covid hospital of Gwalior

New Delhi, April 18

A wardboy of a private hospital in Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh attempted to rape a Covid positive woman who is admitted in the hospital for treatment.

The accused was identified as Vivek Lodhi working at Lotus Hospital.

The police said that Lodhi entered the room of the 45-year-old victim where she was under medical care and locked the door from inside. The incident happened between 11pm to 12am on April 17 and April 18.  He first touched her inappropriately and left. The woman reportedly kept quiet thinking that she was getting medically checked. The ward boy again entered the room and thus time began forcing himself on her. 

The police added that the woman raised an alarm and the ward boy fled from the spot. The woman called her son from her phone and narrated the incident. Her son and brother-in-law rushed to the hospital where the ward boy allegedly picked up a fight and tried to assault them. He fled from the hospital however got arrested later.

The victim's family lodged a complaint at Kampu police station if Gwalior. They also levied allegations on the doctor for aiding the ward boy's initial escape.

The police are further investigating the case.
