West Bengal Govt reinstates four police officers earlier transferred by poll panel

The election commission had transferred several officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), and relieved them from election duty

The Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal has reinstated four police officers who were earlier transferred to non-electoral posts by the Election Commission of India during the Lok Sabha elections.

The election commission had transferred several officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), and relieved them from election duty.

Among the officers, Aminul Islam Khan, who was transferred to the state Intelligence Bureau (IB) after opposition leaders raised allegations against him. Khan has been reinstated to his former position as SDPO in Minakha in the Basirhar police district.

The poll panel also replaced Amitava Konar, who was DSP Headquarters in Howrah Rural police district.

The Election Commission also transferred Dibakar Das, who was SDPO in Contai, East Medinipore district, Azaharuddin Khan, DSP of Darjeeling, replaced Das as the new SDPO of Contai.
