New Delhi, April 18
A woman and her husband allegedly stabbed her former employer to death over pending salary and fled. The couple met with an accident a few minutes later.
The deceased has been identified as Sonia Jain (45), who worked with the LIC, said police. Her husband, Praveen Jain, runs a catering business. Their daughter, Sonam, is a Class X student.
The incident took place in Shalimar Bagh of Northwest Delhi on April 15 night. The woman and her husband attacked the victim’s husband as well.
The crime was witnessed by the couple’s 15-year-old daughter who hid in the kitchen and called police.
The accused Shweta was hired by Sonam Jain to work as a caretaker at the victim’s home and quit in February. Shweta had multiple fights with the couple over money; she alleged they refused to pay her.
She and her husband Akash went to meet the couple to receive her pending salary on the day of thr incident. Sonia and Shweta, along with their husbands, sat to discuss the issue before they got into a heated argument.
When Sonam went to make tea, Akash stabbed her several times in the kitchen. When her husband tried to save her, he stabbed him and fled along with Sonam.
Sonia and her husband were rushed to BJRM hospital by neighbours, where she was declared dead on arrival by doctors. Praveen was shifted to Lok Nayak hospital where his condition is critical.
While the police were called to the spot by neighbours, the accused got into an accident while fleeing on their bike, hardly three kilometers from the Jains’ home.
The police have collected CCTV footage and were mapping the route of the accused while they received information about their accident.
