The Electoral Registration Officer found forged documents were submitted as proof of identity and address

New Delhi, December 27

The Delhi Police has registered a case in connection with instances of forgery in voter ID card applications, where fake documents were allegedly submitted by four individuals for the purpose of new voter registration and address shifting.

The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of Okhla filed a police complaint. The persons were identified as Jamil Alam, Kisunee, Mohammad Naim and Sabana Khatoon.

The ERO found forged documents were submitted as proof of identity and address. Three applications included forged BSES electricity bills and another application included a forged Aadhar card.

The applicants attempted to misuse these documents for the purpose of shifting their registered address for voting as well as registering as new voters in the constituency, police added.

The police have a FIR under sections 336 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 340 (using forged documents as genuine) of the BNS.
