Delhi Traffic Police identifies problem zones, choke points and modulates plan for traffic ease

New Delhi, October 7

The Delhi Traffic Police have chalked out a plan to ease congestion of trafficin the national capital by identifying 177 choke points and 10 flyovers in the city where the traffic gets halted and blocked.

The Traffic Police also carried out  survey and found that many factors play a role in making these points choke points from high vehicular inflow to construction work and more. 

The officials said that some of the key flyovers experiencing congestion include Geeta Colony Flyover Pushta Road, Azadpur Chowk flyover, Rani Jhansi flyover, Palam/Dwarka flyover, Sarita Vihar Flyover, and Peeragarhi flyover.

To bring a solution, the traffic police will introduce one-way traffic system at these congestion points, adding that cranes will be deployed to tow away vehicles parked in an obstructive manner or those that have experienced a breakdown. the encroachment removal drives will also be undertaken with the help of local police and civic agencies apart from motorcycle patrolling. 

The traffic personnel will be regularly deployed at major intersections and travel corridors to ensure smooth flow of traffic and in the adjoining highways, non-destined goods vehicles from major border entry points will be returned. In additio to that, the deprtment will conduct regular auditing and reviewing of traffic signal timings according to the flow of traffic. 

The officials will also use of map services to identify traffic blockades and congestion points for prompt action by the field staff.
