Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Gurugram has attached four properties worth Rs. 47 lakhs situated at Faridabad, Ludhiana districts of Punjab and Haryana, belonging to Harjeet Singh Puri and his wife Arvinderjeet Kaur in a disproportionate asset case under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
ED initiated investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by CBI, New Delhi u/s 13(2) read with sec. 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, related to disproportionate assets owned by Harjeet Singh Puri and his wife Arvinderjeet Kaur, to their known sources of incomes.
ED investigation revealed that Harjeet Singh Puri being the Chief General Manager (CGM), Finance at National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) misused his power & position and committed offence of corruption and bribery to acquire assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, by committing offence u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of the PC Act, 1988, thereby, generating the Proceeds of Crime. The total value of disproportionate asset is estimated to be approx. 1.04 Crore over and above the known sources of incomes of Harjeet Singh Puri and Arvinderjeet Kaur.
During ED investigation, 4 immovable properties, worth approx. Rs. 47 Lakh in the name of the above persons were found which have been provisionally attached, officials stated.
