The Assam Police have launched its official YouTube channel to facilitate police-public cooperation.
DGP Assam, GP Singh launched the channel 'The Assam Police Channel' at the police headquarters in Guwahati. The channel received over 15,000 subscribers by May 1.
The Assam police already have their social media handles on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and with the launch of the YouTube channel, they have another mode of communication to reach out to the public.
Speaking at the occasion, DGP GP Singh stated that the Assam Police aims to strengthen its bond with the citizens of the state and work towards a safer and more secure society.
DGP Singh said, “The Assam Police already have its popular social media handles on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and with the launch of the YouTube channel, the gap will be further narrowed down. The YouTube channel and the various cultural initiatives taken up with the launch of the folk orchestra by the Assam Police will help to foster community relations, and people will be able to understand the functioning of the police force in a better way.”
He said the police want to “strengthen” their bond with the citizens of the state and work towards a safer and more secure society.
The officials also launched the Assam police folk orchestra. A city police constable, Lankeswar Kalita, was felicitated for saving the life of a boy from committing suicide a couple of days ago.
Senior police officials such as special DGP (administration) Harmeet Singh, ADGP (SB) Hiren Nath, Guwahati police commissioner Diganta Barah and DIGP (administration) Partha Sarathi Mahanta attended the event, among others.
