New Delhi, August 5
A Delhi government officer allegedly rammed into a bike taxi in Jahndewalan area of Delhi in an inebriated state, both vehicles were destroyed by fire. However, no casualties occurred.
The police said that the crash occurred around 2 a.m. on Rani Jhansi Road. The driver, identified as RC Meena, an assistant commissioner in the city’s Excise Department. He escaped unhurt however the motorcycle rider suffered minor injuries and was hospitalised.
Meena’s Creta SUV was speeding when it hit the Rapido bike, dragging it for a distance before both vehicles burst into flames. The fire services were called in to extinguish the blaze.
A medical examination determined Meena was intoxicated at the time of the crash, police said. Investigation also revealed that the Rapido driver did not have a licence.
Meena was arrested and later released on bail.
