Every year during Delhi Police Week, as part of Road Safety Club initiative, the best school is awarded the Rolling Trophy and cash reward of Rs. 21000/- and runner up school is awarded a memento and cash reward of Rs. 11,000/-. T

This year the Road Safety Rolling Trophy was awarded to Govt Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Kirti Nagar, Delhi and the runner up award was given to Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi. Gyan Mandir Public School, Naraina, Delhi was awarded a special appreciation certificate for its active participation in road safety awareness campaigns.

The concept of Road Safety Club was initiated by Delhi Traffic Police in 2010 with the association of stakeholder companies like Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Hero Motocorp and Honda Motor Cycle & Scooter India Ltd. The motto of the road safety club has been to actively engage schools in spreading awareness and to ensure their participation in various road safety activities. With a humble beginning of just 17 schools enrolled as members now it has 1500 plus schools under its ambit working actively towards promotion of road safety awareness. Delhi University colleges such as Rajdhani College, Shivaji College, Shyamlal College and Daulat Ram College, Jamia Milia Islamia University and some private colleges and universities of Delhi have also joined hands in this initiative.

The most notable outcome of Road Safety Club was that schools realised the need of sensitizing students about road safety issues, keeping in view their vulnerability on roads and utilising them as ambassadors of road safety among their friends, family and neighbourhood. Another remarkable achievement of our dynamic campaigns has been the continuous declining trend that is evident in the road accident data every year in spite of increasing human and vehicular population on Delhi roads.
