Delhi Police arrested one for allegedly duping citizens in name of Haj

The Delhi Police South East District arrested one for allegedly duping citizens for arranging VISAs in the name of Haj and Umra.
The accused was identified as Intezar Sayed Mehndi (54) of Kaushambi in UP who works as a tour operator in Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin in the name of Go Air Travels.
The police stated that he promised the people of area that he will arrange the VISA for the Holy HAJ/Umra for them. In return to that he charged three to four lakh rupees per person for that purpose. He collected the money from almost 40-50 persons. However, after collecting money from them he fled away.
The police had received a complaint from Irshad Ahmad that he was duped of Rs.2.80 lakhs. The police had registered a case of cheating and fraud at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.
The police mounted surveillance on the accused who was on the run and he was traced at at Mohalla Nayaganj in Kaushambi UP.
The officials added that during the interrogation accused Intezar Syed Mehndi disclosed that he works for arranging VISAs since 2010. In the year 2015, he met one visa section officer of Saudi Arabia, Fakruddin Umar Ansari who further made him met a Saudi Arabia National, who works as security officer in Saudi Embassy and asked to give him Rs. 60 lakhs for the 55 VISAs. But the said security officer was transferred from there to his nation in 2016. Visa Officer Fakruddin Umar Ansari died in the embassy. So, neither he could arrange any VISA for the aspirants of Haj yatra nor returned their money.
The police added that in order to return the money, he collected some more money from other peoples in the name of Haj/Umra in 2017-2018. He further contacted another middleman in the Saudi Embassy to help him arrange the VISA during the period of Haj yatra. He also gave Rs. 10 to the middleman to arrange VISAs of HAJ/Umra but he failed to get even single VISA. So, he fled away with the money of aspirants of Haj Yatra/Umra.
The accused was earlier arrested by Andhra Pradesh ATS in a money transfer case by money exchanger.
