Delhi Police New Delhi District emphasis citizens becoming eyes and ears of police

New Delhi, February 20

The New Delhi District Police in a series of programmes for the citizens during the Delhi Police Week celebrations in the city. 

The initiative started with the specially designed 'Jan Sampark Vahan' that reaches at the Connaught Place metro station where citizens were addressed by seniors IPS officers while sweet were distributed in the spirit of the celebration. The Jan Sampark Vahan' also reached Bal Sahyog and met children. 

50 police personnel donated blood at the blood donation camp organized at the Parliament Street police station with the help of the Red Cross Society. 

DCP New Delhi, Eish Singhal states that police specially reaches the senior citizens residing in the district and held meetings with them at various capacities. The senior citizens expressed their gratitude as well as issues with the policemen. The police conducted 231 senior citizens in 69 meetings conducted in last few days. 

The senior citizens were given guidance  about the Delhi Police Senior Citizen App and Senior Citizen helpline No. 1291 in case of any emergency. 

In another important step to involve citizens with police, the police held 12 meetings with various resident welfare associations and market welfare associations and discussed about their active involvement in aiding police with timely information and becoming eyes and ears of police. 

The discussion included coordination, security, terrorist issues, tenant verification, servant verification and some personal issues, the officials added. 

The police officials conducted special meetings with the 'Police Mitra' and 'Praharis' (security guards) and explained about functioning of police. The security guards are the first emergency contacts in residential and commercial areas and they were briefed about various techniques to aide police. 49 Police Mitra and 178 Praharis were briefed in special meetings to be eyes and ears of police. 

SASHAKTI , the Parivartan Cell of police organized an awareness-cum-culturalprogramme was organized at Connaught Place. The audience were made aware about the POCSO Act through live Nukkad Natak. Self-defense tactics were also displayed during the programme. Various NGO’s like YWCA, Scope Plus Purpose NGO, Pantomine Show Jagran Group, Asmita Theatre, Advance Healthcare Foundation also participated. 

In addition to that, a free health check-up camp for police personnel of New Delhi District in association with Delhi Heart and Lung Institute was also held. 

The Delhi Police Band performed live at India Gate whileThe Delhi Police Brass Band also performed live at Rajiv Chowk which entertained many audiences.
