Delhi Assembly Polls- More than 1lakh personnel, CAPFs and cybereing to keep vigil

45 thousand personnel and 15 thousand men of the Home Guards, 250 companies of Border Security Forces, Central Reserve Police Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, and Central Industrial Security Force will be on duty

New Delhi, January 21

The Delhi Police are all set to deploy more than 1 lakh security personnel on duty assembly polls. 

The polling will be conducted for Assembly elections in 13,033 booths spread across the Capital as the city votes on February 5.

The police have heightened security presence at 162 border points that connect Delhi with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and additional support of drones mounted with cameras for 429 sensitive or critical polling stations are in special focus. 

The booths that have been declared sensitive or critical are on the basis of a detailed security survey, sources revealed, adding that a majority of these 429 polling stations are located in North East, South East, and Outer districts of Delhi.

The security will include 45 thousand personnel and 15 thousand men of the Home Guards, 250 companies of Border Security Forces, Central Reserve Police Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, and Central Industrial Security Force will be on duty.

Of the 162 border points, around 100 connect Delhi with Haryana while the rest connect Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. At each such checkpoint, six security personnel are to be deployed, including at least four personnel of the Central forces. The Delhi Police have also decided to set up random checkpoints inside the city.

Additionally, the cyber police have been asked to keep a watch on social media platforms. The police are keeping a tab on violations of the Model Code of Conduct and also the parties have been told not to indulge in ‘deepfake’ or any AI-generated photos or videos.
