New Delhi, January 21
The Delhi Police held a conman who claimed to be an Army veteran and board member of UPSC cheated a father son duo for getting admission in National Defence Academy and Naval Academy examination.
The victims Varinder Maini and his Saiyam Maini selected Defense Career Academy to train for the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy examination in 2018.
The accused identified as Sanjeev Jha, a mathematics teacher at the academy, gave them an offer. He allegedly took more than Rs 7 lakh to get Saiyam a place in the National Defence Academy without sitting for the exam, and then fled with the money. Jha was on the run ever since.
The co accused were identified as Mukesh Jha, Kalsi and R K Sinha.
The police stated that Jha and his associates, started posing as members of the UPSC and promised to get candidates selected even if they skipped the NDA exam.
Additional CP (Crime Branch) Sanjay Kumar Sain stated he revealed that he was arrested in a cheating case and after being granted bail, had gone into hiding, as he was being pursued by various law enforcement agencies, including the Haryana and Rajasthan Police.
