New Delhi, February 21
The East District of Delhi Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized 34 kgs of Ganja (cannabis) from them.
The accused were identified as Raju Raghav (35), Rajender Prasad (40) and Tayaib (30) from UP. The accused were arrested from a cremation ground in Ghazipur.
DCP East, Deepak Yadav stated that the cannabis was being smuggled into Andhra Pradesh. The accused were using a Swift Desire car to snuggle the cannabis in Delhi.
The officials said that the accused had formed a cavity inside the CNG cylinder of the car where they hid the contraband to allegedly supply to AP. The car has been seized by police.
The interrogation of the accused Tayaib disclosed that he was a distant relative of a Fanu a resident of Ghaziabad and Sadhu alias Irshad a resident of Baraut in UP who are alleged active drug peddlers.
The police added that both these peddlers have their base in Lonj, Ghaziabad, UP and supply ganja to Delhi & NCR in bulk quantity. Tayaib reportedly introduced Rajender and Raju to Fanu who further introduced them to his brother Sonu alias Arif who is based in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The investigation revealed that Sonu has alleged links with Ganja producers in Visakhapatnam of AP.
The above accused persons purchased a car and got it customized for hiding the contrabands and started supplying Ganjha in Delhi & NCR. They further disclosed that they have been committing this crime since October, 2020 and claimed to have not been caught.
According to the police, the accused Rajender is a driver by profession. He reportedly wanted to earn quick money and got indulged in this crime. He has previously never been arrested for any crime. The accused Raju is also a driver by profession and no criminal charges registered before.
Tayaib was initially a farmer who allegedly got into drug peddling through his relatives who allegedly lured him in the syndicate. He too is reportedly a first time offender,.
