Two men hit Puducherry constable with cooker lid in a bid to escape arrest in drug case

The duo tried to even hold the constable captive by tying him after disfiguring his face

The Puducherry police arrested two men for attacking a head constable investigating a drugs case with a cooker lid in Puducherry. 

 

The constable was identified as Vasanth, who suffered a head injury and a disfigured face due to the attack.

 

The accused have been identified as Pradeep and Satish. A minor who is absconding is also involved in the incident. 

 

As per the case details, Vasanth was investigating the sale and storage of drugs in a residential area at Gopalankadai in Villiyanur. As he was investigating, he reached the spot where he saw three men packing drugs in small packets for sale and distribution.

 

When Vasanth attempted to catch the drug smugglers, the gang attacked him, and hit him with a cooker lid on his head, leaving him unconscious with a disfigured face.

 

The gang had then reportedly attempted to tie him up but escaped after police reached the spot.
