400 police personnel trained as tourist police for G20 Summit

New Delhi, August 28

The Delhi Police have readied 400 specially trained "tourist police" personnel for the upcoming G 20 Summit. 

These police personnel have been trained in soft skills and effective communication, the topography of Delhi and tourist spots in addition to shopping malls, hotels, transport hubs and routes as well as G-20 venues, English speaking and firing practices

The Tourist Police will be deployed at 21 locations such as railway stations, airport terminals, ISBTs, popular markets and monuments such as Red Fort, Akshardham, Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple among others where the delegates and their associates are expected to visit. 

The officials added that 40 Probationer Sub-Inspectors have been deployed as in-charges in Tourist Police vehicles, each vehicle will be manned by a commando from the ITBP, a gunman and a driver apart from other trained personnel. 

The Tourist Police have been given newly acquired Boleros which have been labelled as ‘Tourist Police’ to make their presence visible and accessible to tourists needing assistance. 

A special helpline number 8750871111 has also been made operational, officials added.
